Currently, it is not allowed for Conventions (from State Conventions to District Conventions to replace SDEC members) to be hybrid meetings. As it is the 21st Century, we call for changing any necessary rules to allow for Conventions to be hybrid to increase accessibility, increase engagement, and to not limit attendance and participation to just those with the economic means to attend Conventions.

As a state-level PAC, we are allowed to get involved with the TX Legislature and other state-level political activities (we are not, however, a federal PAC, so we cannot get involved with federal matters). Historically, we've remained focused nearly exclusively on Party building.
Tell us what you think. Should the TXPC start getting more involved with the TX Legislature?
(To take the poll, click the circle with the lightning bolt and slide it to wherever side best represents your thoughts. Once you slide the circle to the place that represents your views, just let it go and that's it! The poll will show you what others are saying. All answers are anonymous. Example: If you want us to be VERY involved, move it all the way to the right, while if you want us only somewhat involved, move it only part way to the right. If you want us to stay OUT of the Lege, move it all the way to the left, while if you want us only somewhat not involved, move it part way to the left.)

Whereas the right to free public education is enshrined in the Texas Constitution and is a key element in the Texas Democratic Party Platform, and whereas the State Democratic Executive Committee passed a resolution on August 26 affirming its opposition to school vouchers, any Democratic lawmaker who votes in favor of Abbott’s ploy to send kickbacks to his donors to the detriment of our public schools will face political repercussions.
Whether you’re rural or urban; white, black, or brown; newcomer or 5th generation, all Texas families want their children to receive a quality education. However, Gov Abbott is seeking to defund our public schools so that he can give kickbacks to his donors. Instead of keeping public money for public schools, he wants to send our public dollars to private academies.
Worst of all, certain Democratic lawmakers are contemplating supporting his ploy to give kickbacks to those who can already afford to spend tens of thousands or more per year to send their children to private academies. They say this is to increase their leverage, build political favors, or “so Democrats have a say in the process.”
The best thing for you to say to Abbott can be summed up in one word: No.
"No deals, no matter what. No deals for a one-time funding increase. No deals for a chairmanship. No deals for a school funding bill that gives Republicans a path to caving on vouchers," said Clayton Tucker, SDEC Member and President of the Texas Progressive Caucus.
The Texas Progressive Caucus commits to do the following for any Democratic lawmaker who votes, or even negotiates, to defund our public schools, including but not limited to:
While we recognize there are certain policies on which reasonable people can disagree, the fundamental and constitutional right to public education for all Texas children is too important to allow any politicians to take away from Texas children just so that they can send kickbacks to their donors.
Given that Texas already trails the national average by over $4,000 per student and ranks 42nd in the nation in per-student spending, no Democratic lawmakers should even attempt to negotiate on vouchers.
School vouchers are merely a redistribution of wealth to Abbott’s donors from Texas families. They must not pass.
The Texas Progressive Caucus works to build and strengthen the Texas Democratic Party. We support Democratic Precinct Chairs, County Chairs, Club Leaders, State Democratic Executive Committee Members, and Democratic National Committee Members. We work in a coalition with many other organizations in Texas, including our sister organization, the Texas Legislative Progressive Caucus.

Far-Right Republicans have tanked our government, causing millions to go without pay. The TSA, air traffic controllers, our soldiers and sailors, national parks employees, and millions of other government employees will soon be without a paycheck.
During this period of suffering and anxiety for millions, the Congress Critters who caused this mess are still getting paid. Not their staff (who get back pay), not the cooks or janitors at the Capitol (who do NOT get back pay); only Congress members are still getting paid.
We think the first paychecks that should be cut are those of Congress Critters. Sign if you agree!
The Chair of the Texas Democratic Party is an important position. It's a disservice to the Party that whoever holds that position cannot give it their all. Furthermore, by not compensating the Chair position, we inadvertently dissuade working class people from leading the Texas Democrats. As such, we call for the Chair position, at a minimum, to become a full-time paid position within the Texas Democratic Party.

We call for the Permanent Platform Committee during the 2024 Texas Democratic Convention to add the following, or equivalent, language to the TDP 2024 Platform under the “Reproductive Freedom and Personal Choice” section:
Freedom is a cornerstone of America. The Democratic Party needs to fight for all legislation and policies that promote and protect freedom, including but not limited to: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from fear, and freedom from want.
All Americans deserve the right to support themselves and their families. The Democratic Party should support legislation and policies that break apart corporate monopolies, support a living wage, good jobs for all, the right to repair for farmers, and more.
Justice must be for all or it will inevitably be for none. The Democratic Party needs to support any legislation or policies that support justice for all -- from ending no-knock raids, increasing police accountability, fixing the justice system, fixing bail, ending the cannabis prohibition, and more.
All Americans deserve to feel safe in their homes, their communities, and their bodies. The Democratic Party needs to support any legislation and policy that limits domestic violence, domestic terrorism, gun violence, crime, attacks on trans children, and more.
The cannabis prohibition is harming Americans. The Democratic Party should support any legislation that moves us forward to ending the cannabis prohibition -- including full medical use, recreational use, and full decriminalization.
