  • Federated CRM System Between TDP & All County Parties

Federated CRM System for County Parties

    • Similar to the Unions/Action Network, the TDP should create a Federated CRM system (i.e. mass email/activist database).
    • EX: You can create a system of databases that communicate with each other. When an Activist signs up with the state org with a 76550 area code, they’ll automatically be added to the Lampasas County Dems’ database. An activist can unsub from either the state or the local without unsub’ing from the other.

Cost savings will be hard to calculate, given the various data sizes. It could be more, less, or equal to the amount saved with the federated website system.

Most folks outside of the Party DO NOT DISTINGUISH the difference between the State or the County Parties. We know and recognize the difference. Most people do not.

Because of this, all work a County Party does will reflect directly on the TDP and vice versa. The more resources a County Party can put into GOTV and less into overhead, the better for us all.

We need to centralize better and automate certain processes while maintaining local control. Federated websites and CRM systems are a great way to boost long-term effectiveness & efficiency.

We call upon the TDP to create a federated CRM system for all county parties so that resources can be better spent on GOTV and other matters.

  • Subpages for All County Parties on TDP's Website

Federated Website System for County Parties

    • Similar to the Unions, allow counties to create/manage subpages on the TDP page.
    • EX: www.lampasas.texasdemocrats.org would go to the LCDP site, even if it’s just a forward link.

If the average website cost is $20/mo+ $20/yr for URL purchase and there are 254 counties, then collectively, all county parties could be spending up to $66,000/yr. Certain subpage systems can reduce this cost to $10/mo or less per website w/ no need to buy a URL, saving upwards of $35,500/yr.

    Process & Guiding Philosophy

Ideology without power is nothing more than us running our mouths. Ideology by itself does not feed the hungry or house the homeless; only progressive ideology in tandem with power can do that.

With many suffering under the GOP Monopoly of power in state government, the only way to systematically help all Texans is to shatter that monopoly. It’ll take a coalition to break up the GOP Monopoly; Texas Progressives will be a part of that coalition, and we will have a seat at the table. This is why we are in the business of building power for Texas Progressives for the benefit of the people of Texas. We have 3 criteria when considering a candidate:

    1. Policies: Are they sufficiently progressive for the office they are seeking? An official without good policies won’t help many people.
      • For this part, we rely on the application, past statements, website, social media, etc. Our applications are scored and a candidate must reach a minimum score to qualify.
    2. Personality: Can they withstand the pressures of being in office? An official who cracks under pressure or burns too many bridges won’t be effective at helping people.
      • For this part, we rely on background research on the candidate, news, social media, how they interact with others, etc.
    3. Power: Can they amass the human and economic resources to win, or at least push the needle forward depending on the district? A candidate who cannot amass the resources to win, or at least push the needle forward as a part of a long-term/multi-cycle strategy, won’t, at the end of the day, help people.
      • For this part, we rely on financial reports, canvassing activities, etc.

From these criteria, we add candidates into one of two groups:

    1. Endorse: We believe this candidate is sufficient in all three of our criteria.
    2. Recommend: We believe this candidate is sufficiently progressive, but there may be another progressive with a higher score in the race.

As a rule of thumb, we try to limit endorsements to one per race. However, we are not limited to the number of recommendations. We want to balance not splitting the progressive vote while honoring all progressives in the race.

We survey our membership and other supporters in certain races, especially statewide or hotly contested ones. These results directly inform us which candidate to endorse or recommend in a particular race.

If we see a recommended candidate portray our recommendation as a full endorsement, we maintain the right to pull the recommendation altogether. If a recommended candidate attacks us over just being recommended, we maintain the right to pull the recommendation. We do this as it shows a lack of the candidate’s ability to withstand the pressures of running a campaign or holding an office.

We will hold our candidates to a basic sense of electoral decorum when dealing with other Democrats. When dealing with other good-faith Democratic opponents in a primary, we call upon all candidates to act in the spirit of “Not Me, Us.”   All candidates who believe they are the best choice in the race are encouraged to remain; that is consistent with “Not Me, Us.”   A candidate is free to criticize their primary opponents within reason; however, a candidate who only works to tear other Democrats down or who goes too negative runs the risk of going against our principle of “Not Me, Us.”  We’re in the business of building power, not entertaining ego trips.

For Democrats facing Republicans: In an ideal world, regardless if a candidate is running against another Democrat or a Republican, we would want our candidates to maintain electoral decorum. But given the fact that Republican policies are leading to the suffering and death of many Texans, we believe our candidates must do everything possible to win. For these races, we can support a no-holds-barred style of campaigning within reason.

Our main focus is Party Offices. Our secondary focus is State Lege. We generally don’t get involved with Federal or Local races, but exceptions can be made.

Our endorsements are run by a committee of progressives from around Texas. Contact us if you have questions regarding the committee.

It’ll take collective power to return Texas Blue.  Progressives are a key component of that collective.  Our energy, policies, and drive will help the collective win. There’s is no us winning as individuals or us losing as individuals; in a state living under a hateful GOP Monopoly, there’s only us winning as a collective or us losing as a collective. The TXPC works to build power for Texas Progressives so that, one day, we can play our role in the Democratic symphony that will break the GOP Monopoly on Power and return common decency to state government.

    Peace in the Middle East

Regardless of where we come from or how we worship, every family wants to be happy, healthy, and free to live our lives. All of us want peace, justice, and the right to self-determination. This applies to all who call Earth home.

The Middle East is spiraling toward an ever-more destructive path that will kill many innocents, including children. Acts of revenge do not create peace. They do not find justice. Nor do they ensure self-determination for anyone. With over tens of thousands of innocents killed, the cycle of violence must end.

And yet, as more children end up in coffins, many of our politicians are pushing for greater war just to fill the War Machine's corporate coffers. Instead of pushing for peace, many of our politician puppets, ignoring the 70% of Americans who want a ceasefire and de-escalation, point figures and stoke divisions to keep themselves in power while giving kickbacks to their mega-donors.

When we reject these divide and distract tactics to come together, we can push for a lasting and just peace for all.

This is a joint petition between the Texas Progressive Caucus, the Asian American Democrats of Texas, and the Muslim Democratic Caucus of Texas.

    Our Ask: Consideration for U.S. aid to Israel should include;

    1. an end to the indiscriminate bombing of a civilian population,
    2. consideration for a permanent ceasefire,
    3. commitments to vital humanitarian assistance into Gaza,
    4. the right of return for displaced Gazans,
    5. guarantees of no long-term Israeli re-occupation or blockade of Gaza,
    6. an end to settler violence and settlement expansion in the West Bank, and
    7. finding a true political, economic, and diplomatic solution to end the cycle of violence.

Why Act? The mass killing of civilians, including children, is unacceptable and is a violation of international law. Netanyahu's extremist government is relentlessly assaulting civilians and rendering Gaza uninhabitable. Senators, including Bernie Sanders, Chris Murphy, and Peter Welch are now considering proposals for conditioning military aid to Israel and ending the blank check approach that has clearly not contributed to peace or security for either Israelis or Palestinians. Giving $14.3 billion without any conditions to Netanyahu, following the killing of over 5,000 children and expecting better results in the future, is unconscionable and reckless.

Our Mission: We urge you to connect with your Members of Congress now and demand that they place much-needed restrictions on the $14.3 billion aid package to Israel to ensure that such aid is not used to harm civilians. Our campaign, "No Blank Checks to Netanyahu," is a call for accountability and a much overdue oversight over how foreign militaries use U.S. tax dollars.

What's at Stake: Reassessing U.S. aid to Israel is a matter of extreme urgency, especially as we have the power to leverage our position and influence to promote de-escalation in the region, advocating for a political resolution over military intervention. This reassessment is critical to prevent complacency in actions that may violate international law and compromise our commitments to human rights.

Take action today and connect with your elected officials to demand accountability for U.S. aid to Israel. Together, let's end the blank check approach. #NoBlankChecksToNetanyahu
