-
Permanent Committee Member Election Results
- Permanent committees meet before the state convention to determine which items (rules, resolutions, platform planks) to recommend that the delegates adopt.
- Items that were submitted to and passed at 10 or more local conventions are automatically considered by the permanent committees.
PETITION PROCESS
If an item you wanted to see considered by delegates did not move forward, this is another way to present your ideas to the convention.
Process for Resolution Submission by Petition. (outlined in the Call to Convention)
- Any delegate to the State Convention may submit to the Chair or a designee a proposed resolution or rule change for consideration by the Convention. The resolution or rule change shall be filed between the hours of 9 am and 6 pm on Friday of the State Convention. It shall be assigned a number and given a short title.
- Proponents of the resolution or rule change will be given a prescribed petition form for the purpose of obtaining signatures. It shall be the responsibility of the proponents of the item to reproduce sufficient copies of the petition.
- Each signature must be accompanied with the County and Congressional District number of the signer.
- Any item for which signatures have been obtained from 30% of the Delegates to the Convention (as certified by the Credentials Committee as the Permanent Roll) shall be presented to the Convention for discussion and a vote. A submission of such resolution shall immediately be recognized as being before the Convention as the next order of business after completion of any item then under consideration.
- Any item for which signatures in excess of 50% of the number of Delegates to the State Convention have been obtained shall be adopted by the Convention upon submission to the Permanent Chair and shall not require a vote of the Convention. The Permanent Convention Chair shall announce the adoption of the item.
