In June, the Democratic National Committee’s rules panel quietly added language to the 2028 delegate selection rules that bans state parties from using ranked choice voting in their own presidential nominating processes. Twelve state parties have used ranked choice voting somewhere in that process over the last two cycles, and not one of them was invited to present before the vote. This isn’t about whether you love RCV. It’s about whether the national party should strip states of a tool that’s working for them -a tool that more than doubled primary turnout in Wyoming and nearly quadrupled it in Kansas- while banning RCV sits on the Heritage Foundation’s priority list and inside Project 2025. Democrats should not be doing Republicans’ work for them.
There’s one chance to fix it: a vote of the full DNC membership in Austin this August. The fix is simple: strike the ban language and return the rules to what they’ve always been, with every state deciding for itself. No one would be required to use ranked choice voting; states would simply keep the right to choose.
Here’s how you can help: contact any DNC members you know and ask them to support removing the ban, sign the petition, and join the People’s Call on Tuesday, July 28 at 8:30 PM ET / 7:30 PM CT, where state party leaders who’ve actually run these elections share what’s at stake.
As previously reported, there is an attempt to disqualify a candidate (Kendall Scudder) for Texas Democratic Party (TDP) Chair. We respect the State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC) Nominations Committee’s report certifying that all candidates are qualified to run for TDP Chair and call for unadulterated democracy when choosing between the candidates.
The attempt to disqualify any candidate, especially this close to the election (March 29th), reinforces negative perceptions and further divides the Democratic Party as the GOP seeks to fully replace our democracy with an oligarchy. These political games help only the GOP.
By signing this petition, you will be added to an upcoming People's Letter calling for the Democratic Party to live up to its name. The petition text below is just an executive summary. Click here to read the full letter text.

The undersigned denounce the attempt to disqualify a leading candidate for Texas Democratic Party (TDP) Chair. We respect the State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC) Nominations Committee’s report certifying that all candidates are qualified to run for TDP Chair and call for unadulterated democracy when choosing between the candidates.
Either the Democratic Party is the party of democracy, or what are we? If not a democracy, then what.
